Maintenance single-instance reboot: Temporary Disk (D)
Maintenance single-instance reboot: Temporary Disk (D)
I just received a notification that single-instance VMs will be rebooted once for scheduled maintenance on Aug 28--30.
As a result of that maintenance reboot, would the VMs continue to have the same Temporary Disk D:, or would they be cleared on reboot?
This is a physical disk on the node that can be used for scratch space. Data on this disk will be lost when the VM is moved to another physical machine, which can happen during upgrades, patches, and when Windows Azure detects something is wrong with the node you are running on.
The temporary disk is not persistent. You should only write data onto this disk that you are willing to lose at any time.
