2.3 Idioms
In the past few years, many scholars paid their attention to the study of idiom translation from different aspects. Some researchers tried to research from the perspective of comparison between Chinese and English idioms. The majority of them started to make moderately comprehensive analysis on idioms and culture. They dealt with the concept of culture, the properties of culture, the definition forms and characteristics of idioms, the formation and change of Chinese and English idioms.
At the same time, many other researchers tried to study idiom translation especially from perspective of culture. Many of them studied the translation principles and methods of language and cultural phenomenon which translation activity deals with. Some time they came up with the conclusion that learning a language is learning a culture and the customs of country where the language is spoken. Language is inseparable from culture.
III. Non-correspondence in Chinese and English Translation——Take Color Words and Idioms for Instance
