Title Study on the Living Condition of the Bottom of the Sociaty:
Taking the Beggars in Nanjing as an Example
Abstract
Today, although the economy and society have been changed greatly by the reform and opening-up, the beggars still have been in a large proportion in the bottom of the society. It is undoubtly that such phenomenon has caused some adverse effects to the society, and brought a series of problems. Social welfare and dignity are the main problems among these problems. At the present, many scholars have studied on begging, especially after the case of Sun Zhigang. The studies on begging generally focus on the following aspects: the social assistance to beggars, the socail attitudes to beggars, the socail reasons of begging, the comparison between some foreign and chinese beggars and so on. However, most of these studies are from the social perspective, and onlt a few aim at the beggars themselves. This paper will focus on the reasons of begging, the attitudes to beggars and the understanding of the social assistance policy from the perspective of the beggars. What’s more, the author will study on the beggars’ family and marital status and on the level of income in a listener rather than in a researcher.
