Title One Wall, Two Worlds, How Could Migrant Workers Really Integrate into The City ? —— Based on One Survey on A Selected College Community Abstract
As a special group appearing in the process of China economic development, migrant workers now face the accelerating trend of urbanization and the following problem: how to integrate into city. This paper does a survey on a selected college community, analyzes the data briefly according to the survey and summarizes its outcome. From this outcome, I investigate the specific integration situations of migrant workers with the city and the problems in this process, such as short of political participation degree of migrant workers; the difficulties to guarantee their economic interests; low cultural level into the city; the marginalization of social life. Based on space horizon, this paper investigates both problems and it’s causes from three perspectives: institution space, society space and identify space. And then I propose that in order to break the obstructive wall and contribute to the real fusion between migrant workers and the city, we could structure reasonable and effective institution space by the reform of urban and rural household registration system and the perfection of social security system; build society space of multiply fusion by creating a strong community culture and developing social organization persity; create active-abundant inpidual space by realizing the transformation of self value and strengthening their own interaction with the original community.
