2。2。1 The National English Curriculum Standards for High Schools (2003)文献综述
English Curriculum Standards (2003) states clearly that the general goal of the English education in high schools is to cultivate students' integrated skills of using the English language。 To reflect the guiding ideology of curriculum reform, high schools should adopt the model in which compulsory courses are combined with optional courses。 The former is to acquire necessary knowledge and skills in their life-long learning while the latter, to meet the needs of personal interests and development。
And the optional consists of series one and series two。 Based on the compulsory, series one, which has six models, is developed orderly。 Students meet the requirement of the eighth or ninth grade if they complete module eight or eleven relatively。 Series two is pided into three categories, namely language knowledge and skills, language application and connoisseurship curriculum。 There is no compulsive teaching content or order in the implementation of series two。 All types of schools at different levels can open no less than one module freely in each category and it is better to provide students with as more courses as possible。 There is a reference offered for each category, such as English Practical Writing, English Speech and English Newspaper and Periodical Reading for category one, Business English, English for Tourism and English for the Secretary for category two and English Music appreciation, literature appreciation and English and American Movi
