Western culture originated from ancient Greek and ancient Rome and was the heritage of Celtic Germanic and other ethnic groups. Christianity also played an important role in the shaping of western culture. So western culture is totally different from Chinese culture. There are many ethnic groups in Europe. Different cultures with distinct characteristics communicating and integrated with each other formed the vivid characteristics. Although it doesn’t exist for a long time, western people have created the glorious civilization and culture, which has made a great influence in the world. Western culture advocates personal honor, self-interest, innovative spirit and inpidual freedom. In the Western family, children can participate in family affairs when they are being adult. Lots of families’ discussion and a variety of proposal constitute horizontal structure of western family. Rational thought is more acceptable to the western people than which to Chinese people. It leads to different ways of thinking between western people and Chinese people.
