Under the background of informatization education，PPT as a powerful teaching tool used in English teaching provides a better environment to stimulate students’ interest and enthusiasm. PPT teaching has a large number of advantages which can help to improve the quality of courseware through research problems existing in PPT teaching. The proper application of PPT in English teaching can improve the efficiency of the class teaching. PPT attracts students’ attention with its unique charm which increases the capacity of class teaching, and expands the scope of teaching content, also clearly highlight difficult points. The proper application of PPT in English teaching is an effective direction and trend of English teaching reform.
II. The Introduction of PPT in English Teaching
2.1 The Definition of PPT
PowerPoint (PPT) belongs to a kind of courseware in MAI (multimedia assisted instruction). It integrates various media and optimizes the teaching effect by the instructional design，application of modern teaching media and teaching methods．In general，PPT is a presentation program developed by Microsoft and a part of the Microsoft Office suite. It has been widely used by teachers，students and trainers until now.
PPT, the Multimedia courseware can combine multiple media formats and form a comprehensive multimedia system to reach a goal. To a certain extent, PPT is a supplementary tool to class teaching. PPT can use all kinds of rich content such as texts, pictures, animation, sounds, videos and some other media information. Specifically, the static resources call change into dynamic resources by custom animation or hyperlink(Tian Liyu 2011. 5)．The easy operation, simple attributes and continuous updated template are favored by most of the users. With the help of the powerful PPT，a lively classroom can be achieved to improve students’ study motivation, arouse their interest and stimulate their imagination and display their creativity. The modern concept of MAI reveals that PPT is a top choice to display teaching content vividly on a computer．It makes it possible for students to interact with teachers and students. Therefore, teachers take the main part of study into consideration. Furthermore, PPT can be saved permanently compared with the use of the blackboard and spread broadly among teachers and students. It deserves to be mentioned that the function of movements like the custom animations are distinguished from other teaching courses like Word，Excel.
