If we want to improve junior students’ ability of writing, it is essential to learn about some difficulties and problems in writing. To Chinese students, English is the second language. It is difficult for them to write in English expressively and fluently. This is especially true to many middle school students in China. Many students complain that it is difficult for them to write a satisfactory article. If the students want to write an excellent article, they must master the control of a number of variables simultaneously. These include the control of content, format, sentence structure and punctuation, spelling and letter formation at sentence level. Therefore, English writing is becoming more and more difficult to many middle school students in China. Developing appropriate ways to solve the problems is necessary and urgent.
The research is of great significance in English writing of the junior middle school students.Cooperative learning is a teaching strategy which allows students to work together in small group with inpidual of various talents, ability and backgrounds to accomplish a common goal. That is, cooperative learning exists when students can be done cooperatively. Although it is difficult to adjust and control the student and evaluate the teaching product, its advantages far outweigh its disadvantages in developing students’ English writing level. The application of cooperative learning in English classroom can not only cultivate the students’ awareness of cooperation and improve their results of English study, but also can rebuild the relationship between teachers and students. Therefore, it will develop students’ language practicing activities and enhance their language usage competence.
