Abstract Charlotte Bronte is one of the well-known writers of the Victorian era and her works Jane Eyre is considered to be a great masterpiece in the history of British literature in the 19th century. To a certain extent, it is Charlotte Bronte’s autobiographical novel based on her own journey of life. This paper interprets Jane Eyre, the heroine of the novel, from the perspective of feminism. Charlotte Bronte shows us such a woman: talented, independent, strong self-respect, positive enterprising, who dares to struggle, and fight for freedom and equality, but at the same time, she is brave, longing for pure love with a little paranoia but won’t lose herself. Finally the author summarizes that the status of women in the patriarchal society in the 19th century is very low, causing the majority of women to lose their freedom and lose themselves, which leads to the tragedy of women. To study Jane Eyre from the feminist perspective, can help us to learn more women’s life in the 19th century and provide a fuller and deeper perspective for the further study of feminism.
