Title The Harmony between Mankind and Nature in AmericanCulture Reflected in Fly Away Home
Abstract
The purpose of the paper is to study, analyze and interpret the harmonious relationship between mankind and nature in American culture，by taking the movie of Fly Away Home as the starting point. Resources from the nature are critical for the existence of mankind and nature. From the traditional view, the relationship between mankind and nature is the giving and taking. Apparently, that’s not a rational cognition. Nowadays, to achieve the sustainable development of the society, the concept of harmony becomes popular. In American culture, a harmonious co-existence between mankind and nature can be found in many fields. From the movie Fly Away Home we can get much information and new cognition about mankind and nature, that is, people can benefit from nature, and also people can contribute to the beautiful nature. The harmony between mankind and nature is the choice of the time, and the choice of the history.

1 Introduction
1.1 Background
In a very long history, mankind regards the nature as our warehouse from which we can get whatever we need. But with the decrease of natural resources, with a series of natural disasters, different countries and aeres assemble to discuss the common question, the seriously environment issue. Ordinary people also pay their attention to the environment issue and they gain kinds of environment information from different ways, such as newspaper, radio, television, internet and so on. More importantly, people feel environmental problems from their own life experience, such as polluted air, polluted water, polluted soil… More and more disasters force people to realize the seriousness and become aware of its importance for our existence and development. Gradually, we begin to realize that harmonious co-existence is the only way to achieve the mankind sustainable development. In a long time, the concept of environment and harmony would take root.
The harmony of mankind and nature is complex, but not without logic. According to the definition of the dictionary, harmony means to live or work together without fighting or disagreeing with each other(Yang Zhenming, 2004). It can be understood from many aspects. For instance, mankind should respect nature, protect animals, protect air and water from polluted, follow natural principles, save and make rational use of resources, enjoy and promote the beauty of nature and so on.
