论狄更斯在《双城记》中的人道主义思想(2)
In this novel, on the one hand Dickens shows deep sympathy to the poor. On the other hand, he strongly condemns the feudal aristocrats’ behaviors. And he also holds a greatest esteem for the love of the human beings. Dickens believes love is always more powerful than resentment. In his opinion, no matter the person is rich or poor, if his behavior agrees with morality, it should be praised. If not, then it should be criticized. Therefore, facing the contradiction between the aristocrats and the poor, Dickens firmly believes the contradiction can be solved by the great love of the human being. In short, the view of Dickens’ humanitarian could be summarized as that “ be humanitarian and love others.”
