A teaching plan for the second period
Teaching aims:
1. To enable the students to learn the vocabulary and expressions by asking about prices.
2. To encourage the students to talk about clothing.
3. To get the students to learn how to thank someone politely.
4. To help the students improve their abilities of listening and speaking.
5. To enable the students to communicate with each other and help each other happily.
Language points:
1. Vocabulary: color, black, white, red, green, blue, yellow, big, small, short, long, clerk, want, welcome
2. Language structures: What color is/are…? How much is/are…? It’s/They’re…. Can I help you? What can I do for you? What color do you want? Here you are. Thank you. /Thanks. You’re welcome.
Teaching procedures:
Ⅰ. Warming-up activities for interest
A song: “colors”
Ⅱ. Greetings
1. Self-introduction.
2. Greet the students and get to know each other by asking:
“Do you have…? Do you like…?What color is/are…?
Ⅲ. Pre-task
1. A word competition: “What’s in the color…?”
2. Go through the items of clothing.
3. Work on 2a, listening and circling things you hear.
Ⅳ. While-task
1. A guessing game
2. Work in pairs to make a survey of the details of the clothes of Ss’ partners. Let some pairs role-play their dialogues.
3. Brainstorm: flash pictures quickly to let students remember the things and the prices.
4. Ask one student to demonstrate the first picture.
5. Let the students ask and answer in pairs/two groups/two rows…
6. Listen and fill in the forms.
Ⅴ. Post-task
1. Chant.
2. Watch the video and put the dialogue in the right order.
3. In pairs, make a similar dialogue and role-play it.
4. Divide the class into four groups, ask the students to buy and sell things.
5. Let the students fill in the charts and report to the class, then help them find out who is the best clerk in their minds.
Ⅵ. Homework
1. Make a design of your own clothes, including style, colors and prices.
2. Suppose you are a clerk, design an ad to sell your clothes.
